| Sean Takes on a Challenge |
Sean went to college to learn basic skills, before joining the E2E programme. As part of the programme he was placed with Gateshead Council's Environmental Services department working in parks and cemeteries to gain work experience. He quickly made a good impression and became a well-liked and highly regarded team member. It was these factors and a good timekeeping and attendance record, which resulted in him becoming one of the Evening Chronicles Young Achievers of the Year 2002.
"I lacked confidence in my abilities before but now I'm not afraid to tackle new things. I've now got formal qualifications, experience of on-the-job training and a new circle of friends. I didn't think I'd ever get a job as I had problems at school, but this has opened a new door for me to places where I can get a job and training." |
