His uniquely tailored E2E programme holds his interest and will help him improve his future employment prospects. Fishwick's, a fruit and vegetable distributor in South Shields has now offered him a placement where he can put his new skills into practice. He also receives a wage and his motivation and self-esteem have improved immeasurably.
"I didn't enjoy school because I wasn't good at it. E2E suited me because I could work at my own pace and follow a practical work placement. This gave me the motivation to improve my literacy and numeracy skills and I can see the benefits as I need them to carry out my placement effectively every day. I now look forward to the weekends after working all week. Before starting my placement, weekends were just like every other day and I had nothing to look forward to. I am also enjoying getting paid." |
